The Shack which is a spiritual novel based on the tragedies of a father, would need to be approached with caution when being turned into a movie. The novel follows that extremely heart wrenching events that a father experiences after the loss of his young daughter to a very awful man. When turning the film into a movie that producers would have to consider the sensitive content and present it in an way that triggers strong emotions but does not disturb the audience to the point of missing the main idea of the plot. The majority of the book is written from the perspective of the dads mind and the turmoils he is facing and doubt he has in his faith and himself. It would be difficult to present these thoughts successfully without narration. Throughout the film it would need to be clear that this is a spiritual journey and that what he is experiencing is within his head and is a spiritual bond he is making. words are very powerful and precise in this book so it would be of high importance to successfully demonstrate every emotion the reader feels when reading through acting and imagery. This way nothing is lost in translation from page to screen.
